DigiHero-Study

(Population-based cohort for digital health research in Germany)

Welcome to DigiHero and thank you for your interest in our study!

The DigiHero study stands for digital health research for and with the citizens of Halle (Saale). We aim to establish an online platform in order to be in close contact with all our participants. Through this platform, we can conduct various questionnaires and can easily send back feedback to our participants. A participation is therefore only possible with an email address and an internet connection. This is not a limitation to our study but a benefit for more flexibility in many aspects.

Now, the primary focus for our study is the COVID-19-pandemic. We first ask our participants about their wellbeing in these times and about the topics they are currently mostly concerned about. We might use this survey to create an open dialog with our participants in the sense of citizen science. In further projects, we will study household transmission and change of viral load of infected patients. For this project, we plan to include all household members of the Digihero participants in order to get a comprehensive understanding of the corona infection. Additionally, we would like to draw blood in order to study antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 in our participants and their household members.

After the COVID-19-pandemic, we will focus on risk factors for the development of chronic disease especially considering cardiovascular and renal diseases. Besides, we are interested on factors for healthy aging and quality of life, which will add and extend the results of the already established CARLA study.

We want to recruit as many participants as possible. Therefore we randomly chose 50 000 citizen of Halle and send them an invitation for our study. Additionally, all other citizen of Halle can register voluntarily for DigiHero. Participants need to be above the age of 18 and residents of Halle. If you are interested to participate in DigiHero, please click here where you will also find more information on participating.

A consortium of the university medicine (four clinical departments and four research institutes) of Halle conducts this study. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us here.
