Project Team

Who is conducting the DigiHero Study?

The study is jointly conducted by five clinics and four institutes of the Halle University Medicine.

Project partners are scientists from the Jena University Clinic, the LSC DiPH in Bremen, which combines the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiologie – BIPS and the University Bremen, and the IPA in Bochum, which refers to the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), Institute of the Ruhr-University Bochum.

Prof. Dr. med. Mascha Binder

“Our city should become even healthier! By participating in the DigiHero study, you enable us to gain insights into risk factors for widespread diseases. This is an important contribution to your own health and the health of others – for today and for generations to come.”

Prof. Dr. med. Michael Gekle

“We want the public healthcare system to still function at the highest standards in 20 years. By participating in the DigiHero study, you are helping to secure our future’s healthcare.”

Prof. Dr. rer. soc. Matthias Richter

“Especially in turbulent times like these, we experience the important social dimension of health, both for individuals and society as a whole. It is precisely this combination [of health and social aspects] that we are going to examine and develop solutions for current challenges.”

Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Girndt

“We would like to win you over for this study so that we can identify and prevent risks to health early on instead of treating diseases later.”

Prof. Dr. med. Rafael Mikolajczyk

“With the DigiHero study, we would like to invite the citizens of Halle to do science with us. Digital methods make it possible to communicate with each other quickly.”

Prof. Dr. med. Patrick Michl

“The current pandemic has shown us how important it is to gather detailed knowledge about disease correlations and risk factors for infections such as COVID19 and other common diseases. This way, we hope to prevent severe case trajectories and to be able to protect ourselves better in the future.”

PD Dr. med. Jessica Höll

“This study represents important research for the future of our children. We have to look at healthy development in children or learn what prerequisites and framework conditions for healthy development are.”

Prof. Dr. med. Daniel Sedding

“Your health is important to us! Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death in Germany. And Saxony-Anhalt is more affected than any other region in Germany. We want to better under what makes us sick and how we can better protect ourselves.”

Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Frese

“With DigiHero we can record health-problems Halle’s citizens that are either not addressed by GP’s or are addressed too late. This study offers great opportunities.”
