MONID - MODELING NETWORK
FOR SEVERE INFECTIOUS DISEASES
The Modeling Network for Severe Infectious Diseases is a research network founded in May 2022 and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It consists of ten research consortia, three of them associated, and an overarching coordinating office. The modeling network’s focus is to strengthen the interdisciplinary exchange of leading scientists active in this field. In addition, the network is dedicated to the promotion of young scientists in order to sustainably strengthen modeling competence in Germany.
Regarding the current pandemic situation the Modeling Network for Severe Infectious Diseases is the first point of contact for inquiries from the German government.

The 2nd annual Conference of the Modeling Network for Severe Infectious Diseases (MONID) visits the Leopoldina
The German National Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina, hosted the “2nd National Conference on Infectious Disease Modeling”, which brought together over 150 national and international experts in Halle (Saale) to further strengthen and expand modeling expertise in the fight against infectious diseases in Germany and beyond. The BMBF-funded Modeling Network for Severe Infectious Diseases (MONID) reflects with gratification on three days of exciting panel discussions, intensive talks and presentations by talented (young) modellers.
