Our Aims

What does CoPreP aim to achieve?

With its projects, the CoPreP initiative of University Medicine Halle (Saale) aims to contribute to strengthening pandemic preparedness in Saxony-Anhalt with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also developing strategies to improve preparation for future pandemics for Saxony-Anhalt and Germany as a whole.

A key point in achieving this is the development of targeted models that can better predict the incidence of infection on the one hand and the effectiveness of measures on the other.

In detail, the following four main objectives will be pursued:

  1. Empirical analyses of health-related effects of pandemic measures in selected areas of care and of needs to support decision-making.
  2. Interdisciplinary evaluation of the collected data and modelling of the population-related and individual effects of a possible prioritization of diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  3. Development of evidence-based and ethically justifiable recommendations for action suitable for healthcare in Saxony-Anhalt for prioritization in various areas of healthcare in times of pandemics or other restrictions on healthcare resources.
  4. Piloting and ongoing adaptation of the recommendations for action with special consideration of the healthcare conditions and health profiles of the population in Saxony-Anhalt.
